1. Your ID is your library card, and will get you into the library for early morning classes (before we even open!).
2. Start your research at centenary.edu/library.
3. Omnia is a research tool that allows you to search for academic resources with power and ease using a single search - not unlike Google for research. It's the default search on the library's homepage.
4. We are open 7 days a week (M-Th 8a-11p; F 8a-5p;Sa 1p-5p; Su 3p-11p).
5. Librarians want to meet with you about your research projects. You can just drop in, no appointment needed! (Unless you want one.)
6. We probably have your textbook in our course reserves, and you can use our upright book scanner to scan readings. It's free and quick!
7. The Library hosts events all semester long. On the calendar this year:
-Library orientation workshop: September 4, 11 AM, Magale 1A
-Magale Mania: October 2, 5:30-7:30 PM
-Brown Bag Book Club Lunch Bunch: September 30
-Bagles @Magale: October 16, 9-11 AM
-Brown Bag Book Club Lunch Bunch, October 30 at noon, Library Lobby
-Magale Fest: March 28, 2026, 1-4 PM
8. We have a great collection of contemporary fiction, right on the first floor.
9. The Library is teeming with collaborative spaces, on all 3 floors! New for 2025, check out our Cooler, a de-stress room where you can relax in a few neat ways.
10. If we don't have something you need, WE CAN GET IT! Just ask!
Have you heard about the most unorganized of organized book clubs ever? It's the Brown Bag Book Club Lunch Bunch. The book club with no assigned book! We meet at the library and talk about anything we have read in the past month. It does not matter what genre or format! Literary fiction? Great! Manga? Yes, please! Horror? OK, but can you tell me in a non-terrifying way so I can sleep? We want to hear about it ALL!
The kickoff BBBCLB meeting for 25-26 will happen on October 30th at noon, in the usual spot on Magale's first floor. Bring a lunch and tell us what you read this summer!
October 14, 9-11 AM : Bagels @Magale Returns!

Frivolity? Why, no. It's not only a great start to the day to break your fast with something toothsome and full of complex carbohydrates. This is also a chance to come and just say hello to a librarian, which who doesn't love to do? And also, it provides us a chance to talk about things like Omnia, our new books, our textbooks on reserve, our growing resource pool, and the different ways we can help make your Centenary experience more successful and meaningful.
We host these events monthly, when we can. Watch out for emails and other notifications for the next B@M!
