Some of the tools on these pages could land you in trouble if misused. What does misuse look like? It's pretty obvious that asking a generative AI program to write a paper isn't academically honest, but what about asking for a generative AI to reword another person's paragraph? (Yep, that's still plagiarism.) what about using one of the summarizer tools to shorten the amount of time you spend studying something? (While not plagiaristic, necessarily, how well do you trust such a program to give you all the info you need from what it's summarizing?) Beyond purely academic honesty, what about claiming credit for content created by prompting an AI? There are many more issues than these deep ones to consider.
At the very least, a point of best practice is in order. Here are some basic guidelines that will help you stay out of trouble, NOT generated by AI:
-Do not use AI to create work you turn in.
-Follow the CLEAR protocol in prompting AIs.
-Verify all sources discovered when working with AI.
-When you use AI, acknowledge it, and be precise in describing how it affects what you produce.
